I feel that more and more people are becoming aware about the many nasties lurking in some of the well known personal care products which many of us use without thinking. My advice is to always check the ingredients of what is going to come into contact with your skin. ie check the ingredients in your deodrants, shampoos, conditioners, hair care products, wipes, skin products, makeup and even washing powder! Thought I’d talk to you all about how the cold weather affects your skin!
Cold temperatures can really take a toll on your skin, particularly your hands face and lips. During the winter months, the low humidity dries out your skin and harsh soaps strip away your natural oils. As we get older, our ability to make more natural protective oils (sebum) declines. And to make matters worse, many people are allergic to chemicals in soaps, most commonly the preservative called triclosan. The combination of these things makes your skin dry and feel rough – and worse – you get little cuts that are so incredibly painful!!! As many of you already know, I suffered so badly with dry skin and cracks on my hands until I discovered the power of using natural ingredients such as beeswax, shea nut butter and healing base oils. All of which restore, moisturise, soothe and nourish dry skin.
Along with the help of clincal aromatherpists, I came up with a foumla which is now known as the All Purpose Balm which completely cured the painful dry cracked skin on my hands! I am using the all purpose balm on my face and it feels so luxurious, a little goes such a long way & it smells gorgeous too! Forget all the expensive uplifting balms this does an even better job and my skin feels refreshed, glowing and tight!
